Drug Disposal and Takeback

McCracken County ASAP and Paducah Police Department: United Against the Drug Overdose Epidemic

The drug overdose epidemic in the United States is a significant threat to public health, safety, and even national security. At McCracken County ASAP (Agency for Substance Abuse Policy), we are deeply committed to addressing this crisis head-on, in partnership with the Paducah Police Department. Together, we strive to make our community safer and healthier by preventing medication misuse and reducing the potential for drug-related violence.

Our Collaborative Efforts:

One of our key initiatives is supporting the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This event is more than just a day—it’s part of a broader effort to prevent opioid addiction and medication misuse. By encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes, we take a crucial step toward stopping addiction before it starts.

Why This Matters:

Removing these medications from homes reduces the risk of them falling into the wrong hands, potentially leading to misuse or overdose. With the Paducah Police Department’s support, we ensure that these medications are collected safely and securely, preventing them from contributing to drug-related violence and overdoses in our community.

Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That's dangerous and often tragic. That's why it was great to see thousands of folks from across the country clean out their medicine cabinets and turn in - safely and anonymously - a record amount of prescription drugs.
